lyrics

thumbing the road, wavering heat
hours from home, and holding a box of meat
and other things we felt that we might need

we got in a car, had little to say
the scenery flowed, I thought of what we might make
getting back to our home ground, it was great

blood on the road, crackers to eat
sun getting low, and holding a box of meat
which was dripping from one corner to my feet

we got in a car, some headlights engaged
with features exposed we might have looked somewhat crazed
getting back to our home ground, it was great

left in mountainous darkness, staggered to a town, got a motel room and put the box down
went to the bathtub, filled it with ice, laid out our pig's feet and other delights I could smell in my clothes

eyeless, spineless, footless, clawless

the vision came when we were young
to build a thing of hoof and tongue
we bought'em at the corner store
some uteri and so much more
we traveled then across the land
to meet a friend with head in hand
it came alive upon a table
photographed it in an old barn

it was great, it was great, it was great, it was great
